What are Attributes in New World?
In New World, every character is assigned these five attributes: strength, dexterity, intelligence, focus and constitution.
Just like in most of the games, for every level up on your character, you will be given an attribute point and you will assign it to your choice of attribute.
While strength, dexterity, and intelligence primarily work on increasing your damage output, along with a few other things, focus and constitution are primarily to increase healing output, mana regeneration, overall health, etc.
Threshold bonuses are another concept related to attributes in New World. Each attribute has up to six threshold bonuses and they give you additional perks depending on their level. If you think it’s too boring to understand the basics, why not you check out New World boosting for sale!
Types of Attributes in New World
Before learning about the types of New World attributes, keep in mind that in New World, there are weapons that scale off a single primary attribute and there are also weapons that scale off multiple attributes like strength plus dexterity, etc. similar to Elden Ring.
Strength (STR)
The STR attribute determines your power with melee weapons, particularly with heavy melee weapons.
Heavy melee weapons like Great Axes and War Hammers scale primarily off STR. When it comes to lighter melee weapons, it’s 90% STR and 65% DEX and weapons like Spears have 65% STR and 90% DEX.
Threshold bonuses for STR include increased melee weapon damage, better mining potential, better stamina regeneration, etc.
Dexterity (DEX)
The DEX attribute determines your overall effectiveness with weapons like Spears, Rapiers and also ranged weapons like Bows.
Bows scale off 100% with DEX; weapons like Rapiers and Spears are primarily DEX (90%); and, as mentioned before, lighter melee weapons like Hatchets and Swords are 65% DEX and 90% STR.
Threshold bonuses for DEX include increased critical hits, better skinning potential, bonus backstab and headshot damage, better stamina spending, etc.
Intelligence (INT)
The INT attribute determines your power with most magic-based weapons, like Staffs and Gauntlets, which scale 100% with INT. Weapons like Rapiers and Muskets only scale 65% with INT.
Threshold bonuses for INT include increased damage, harvesting speed, critical hit damage, elemental damage, better usage of mana, etc.
Focus (FOC)
The FOC attribute determines your healing potential and also the damage of a few weapons and abilities.
For example, the Life Staff scales 100% with FOC, and the Void Gauntlet scales off both FOC and INT.
Damage dealt by weapons with amber elemental gems in their sockets also scales their bonus damage with FOC.
Threshold bonuses for FOC include increased mana regeneration, mana pool, salvage yield, healing output, duration of buffs, cooldown reduction for fast travel, etc.
Constitution (CON)
The CON attribute determines your overall health. The more points you have in this attribute, the more damage you can tank and sustain.
This attribute does not increase the damage of any weapons or abilities. There is also a decline in the amount of HP you get per level if you put more points into this attribute.
By default, you get +25 HP per point in this attribute; however, it gradually declines to +21 HP per attribute.
Threshold bonuses for CON include increased maximum health, health from consumables, logging speed, armor, critical damage taken, damage reduction, etc.
